Could it have been that I joined a secret society of ninja librarians. Perhaps. To explain— a secret society of library ninjas has the mission of promoting and protecting knowledge. To ensure the success of the mission we:
Protect library materials: making sure that books, documents, and other library materials are safe from theft, vandalism, or any other kind of harm. We patrol the stacks, monitor security cameras, and keep an eye out for suspicious activity.
Maintain order and a folksy kind of decorum: ensuring that the library is a peaceful and respectful place, gently shushing noisy patrons, politely asking people to have phone calls outside, and intervening if anyone is being disrespectful or rude to those in the library.
Promote literacy and education: passionately advocating for reading, learning, and intellectual curiosity both in print and online.
Provide assistance to all who seek knowledge: answering questions, providing directions, and helping the populace find the materials they need.
Combat censorship and misinformation: dedicating ourselves to foiling attempts to censor or restrict access to information, working to promote intellectual freedom and challenging misinformation or propaganda.
This could be what kept me away from this blog and my website for so long. Then again…
